'The Storytellers' was formed by Pendle Productions in 1985 as a small scale
touring theatre company to take adaptations of classics to all types of
venues.
The Company, is directed by the founder, Timothy Lince, whose international
work has included, three years as a commissioned script and musical Writer/Director
for the B.B.C., Artistic Director of Manitou Arts Centre in Toronto and
numerous Major Musical and Theatrical tours throughout the U.K.
"From sell out audiences at Theatres, Arts Centres and Libraries, to
International Theatre and Children's Festivals and Performances in Parks
and Country Houses throughout the length and breadth of the Land 'The Storytellers'
have continued to grow in reputation and stature." 1998 saw two 'live'
productions being filmed for Central and Border Television and in 1999 'The
Storytellers' acquired the rights from the Dahl Estate to produce an adaptation
of "James and The Giant Peach" for a six month National tour which
was received with much acclaim. The year 2000 saw the launch of two new
spectacular productions, the musical "Alice Through The Looking Glass"
and the Filmatic Style Production of Tom Sawyer. Also in 2000 Pendle Productions
worked extensively for the "Millennium Dome" Company presenting
live events and theatre in the Dome itself. In 2001 we introduced "Martha
The Magical Cat" to tremendous public and critical acclaim, re-launched
of the colourful "Wind in the Willows" and back by popular demand
"Alice In Wonderland". 2002 saw the Company engaged on the opening
of the Manchester Commonwealth Games, the fantastic "Secret Garden"
launched with full theatre sets and an original 1863 Wheelchair, along with
the third story in the Martha the Cat series. In 2003 we celebrated 18 years
of touring with a Filmatic style production of "Oliver Twist",
"Tales from the Gypsy Caravan", and the fourth "Martha Story".
2004 saw the return of "Gypsy Caravan", the launch of "The
Dragon who lost his home" and several old favourites returning to our
touring schedule. And so we came to 2005, two decades of touring and we
brought back, to celebrate, the Critically acclaimed "Secret Garden",
"The Dragon who lost his home" and "Martha the Magical Cat".
Leading up to our 21st Birthday Celebrations in 2006 we had relaunched "Martha
The Cat's Lucky Escape", " The Emperors New Clothes", "Wind
In The Willows", and "The Railway Children". Later in 2006
we saw the launch of two fantastic new shows:- "African, Asian and
Eastern" multicultural takes from around the world and the New winter
production of " A Christmouse Tale". In June last year we launched
our new Production "Out Of Africa" (Puppets and Storytelling),
and had our biggest winter season ever. With over 800 'live' performances
last year we have maintained our commitment to 'quality' ensuring that you
can always be assured of a performance that will remain in your memory for
ever.
Each 'Storytellers' team consists of two highly trained and experienced
Actors who bring the performances to life using costumes, scenery, props,
song and the special ingredient that has become synonymous with our storytelling
technique, a sense of fun! All shows are about one hour to one and a half
hours in length and are fully self contained, toured with our own sound
equipment and settings. All we require of you is to provide us with a performance
space of no less than 20' by 16', two power sockets, and an audience to
entertain.
Outside Performances can be catered for during summer months!
(Pendle Productions have Employers and Public Liability insurance (£5
Million) and carry out full safety testing on all equipment and settings).
